Customer Reviews
Using for special ed students - they love it.
I teach in a school for students with severe learning disabilities. I used these kits with students from 11-18 years old, both boys and girls, and they all love it. They take care of the kits, follow directions, and work in groups. Three things I thought I'd never see in my classroom. The only change I would have made is that instead of buying the Sc-100s from an educational supply store I could have gotten the SC-300 kit for the same price from Amazon.
This is a great educational toy. One of the best I've ever seen and it requires minimal adult supervision.
definitely better than most "lab kits"
My son got this kit for his 10th birthday six months ago. Both of his folks are electricians, so he naturally has a lot of curiosity. It's seen hours of use, by a bunch of boys ages 8 to 10. On the down side, one of the pegs on the board has snapped off (doesn't affect performance), and the speaker has been a bit troublesome (sometimes loud enough, sometimes too quiet).
On the up side, the issues have been minor, and the pieces are surprisingly durable. The kids are learning to troubleshoot their work, checking for loose connections and misplaced devices. The "blueprints" for each of the circuits are very clear. The snap-together, modular design is far less cumbersome for young hands than any of the other lab kits I've seen. There's a surprising variety of components in this small kit, and enough circuit plans to keep the boys entertained for hours at a time.
Great for the science minded child
My son loves Snap Circuits. He just turned 6 and is quite capable of snapping the circuits together following the easily laid out colored diagrams. I love the big snaps. Everthing is very durable. We had a little issue with the slide switch which accidentally broke off-my fault. I called the company and they sent out another switch at no charge. I definitely would recommend this to anyone.
